At Dominion Road School, a teacher is released to lead music in the school. This teacher leads choir , ukulele and instrumental groups. As a school we take part in the Ukulele Festival and Kids for Kids Choir Concert. A range of waiata are also taught at school. We have our own school waiata that the students learn and each team learns a number of waiata that they can perform on different occasions.
Dance and Drama
Every two years Dominion Road School does a whole school production where all students are actively involved and are given dance and drama training by teachers with experience and passion in this area.
Dance is integrated into the curriculum through both in-class opportunities, the Physical Education programme and external providers, for example, the Les Mills Born to Move programme.
Visual Art at Dominion Road School is integrated through concepts of inquiry learning and often tied to specific themes or events. A lunchtime art programme runs weekly throughout the school year with a focus on cultural art.
A school art exhibition is held each year.
