
At Dominion Road School, we provide many opportunities for our senior students to learn to lead in an area of passion and interest to them. They are supported by a staff mentor, who meets with them to support their planning and implementation of ideas. Students are able to apply for leadership positions when they are in Year 5 & 6.
Collaborative Council
As a member of the Collaborative Council, senior students have the opportunity to lead and collaborate on school wide initiatives.. They are responsible for providing student input and ideas into a range of projects which may also involve fundraising. They have many opportunities to develop their leadership skills in a range of areas to further enhance our school community.
House Leaders
House leaders are selected to lead one of our four houses - Kauri, Kōwhai, Tōtara and Pōhutukawa. These leaders actively model our school values and support school-wide house events.
Physical Activity Leaders (PALs)
In partnership with Sport Auckland, we select a group of students who plan and lead lunchtime games for all levels of the school. They are also involved in planning school sports events and fun days.
Enviro Leaders
These students have a passion for the environment and help to lead the school as role models for sustainability. They lead the enviro team which has representatives from every class from our youngest through to our oldest students.
Pacific Young Leaders (PYL)
This group is made up of senior Pasifika students who show potential as leaders. The students meet weekly and also have the opportunity to work with Mt Roskill Intermediate & Grammar School Pacific Young Leaders each term.

Cultural Groups
Kapa haka
Kapa haka is open to Year 4-6 students and provides a rich leadership and learning opportunity that honours and celebrates Māori culture. The kapa haka leads our school at our termly pōwhiri and also perform at a range of events throughout the year. You can hear them perform some of their waiata every Thursday afternoon just before the 3.00 bell.
Pasifika Group
Our Pasifika group welcomes all Year 4-6 students to join. This group practises once a week and performs throughout the year, at assemblies and for special school events.
Bollywood Group
This is wonderful performance group which meets weekly to learn a range of bollywood inspired dances
